the mayor's office is currently projecting a 263 million dollar deficit for that two year period and that shortfall results from approximately 344 million dollars in known cost increases which is offset by 81 million dollars in estimated revenue growth over the same period. as always, this gap will have to be closed by the time the mayor submits his report, general funding departments reduced our budget, our general fund support by 3% over the next two fiscal years and they've asked us to make a 1 and a half percent cut in 13-14 and a 1 and a half percent cost in 14-15, the budget reduction targets that we received from the mayor's budget office are 465 thousand dollar reduction next year and a 558 thousand dollar reduction the next year, so in the scope of the budget reduction that they have received over the last three or four years, this is eminently manageable. two years ago, we were asked to make a 20% budget cut, so this is something that feels like we can accomplish hopefully with relatively little pain. we would hope to meet this 3% target as well as any cost increases in our

i think that everybody recognizes we have to reduce the deficit. the deficit is out of control. the only reason we've been able to sustain this level of deficit is because the fed prints money and buys 70%-75% of the country's debt. that can't continue. if you're going to address the issues -- you know, this peace meal, kicking the can down the road, a couple more months, a couple more months, people are sick of that. address entitlements. they are 60% of the budget. the president needs to lead on this with a budget with rational proposals, something to at least get a democrat to vote for it. the budgets so far don't get democrats on republicans' votes. we have to deal with the real problem here which is that we spend a whole lot more money than we bring in with 60% going to entitlements that do not survive if not revised. cheryl: you're a business owner, ran cko, close to insolvency, and you brought the company back. you know what you are talking about. how do you get job creation? more jobs in the country, more tax revenue coming into the government. it seems that whether it's

i call it the trust deficit. it's a little bit like the fiscal deficit, the deficit of another kind but equally corrosive when people of a sudden conclude the system doesn't work and they no longer believe in participating and engaging in the system. the system is only as good as those are willing to participate and engage so i think those are the two biggest threats on the horizon. we can read and use the system with a sense of enthusiasm and direction and energy. i have no doubt about that. and it all has to do with the amount of progress we expect out of congress and whether or not we are smart enough to put this problem solving coalition together which can achieve results. then beyond that, if we can enhance the believe devotee of congress through simple things like reorienting the schedule so as joe said more time is wasting traveling to and from your district and actually sitting in washington touring the work of the people coming and if we can do simple things like no budget, no pay if you can't create a b
